Kathryn L. Hammer, PT, CEAS, CI, DN


Kathryn L. Hammer has owned and operated Hammer Rehab & Fitness since 2002 in the Waukesha Big Bend area. She is a graduate of North Park University and the Mayo Foundation School of Physical Therapy. She is a lifetime member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). She worked as a school physical therapist and traveling Physical Therapist before opening her own facility.

She is a licensed WorkSTEPS® Employment Testing provider and Job Site Assessments specialist. Kathy is Certified to perform Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs), WorkSTEPS® Post Offer Testing and is a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist. She is also a Certified Clinical Instructor through the APTA and has assisted in training many local Physical Therapist (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) students.

Her experience and continuing education training have focused on complex neurological, pediatric, orthopedic rehabilitation sports rehab, manual therapy techniques, industrial rehab and she is certified in dry needling.

Karen Ellefson, PT

Karen Ellefson is a graduate of University of Wisconsin/Madison. She is a lifetime member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Karen began her career in Physical Therapy in acute care hospitals, then moved to a rehabilitation facility for a few years. Karen is a skilled Sports Medicine PT who has worked with numerous college, professional and “weekend warrior” athletes. She had her own outpatient physical therapy clinic in Waukesha for many years. She has additional advanced skills such as cranial sacral therapy, myofascial release, strain counterstrain for general orthopedic issues, as well as arthritis. She is also known as the "go to" therapist for Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) pain combined with Myofascial Pain Dysfunction (MPD) relief. Headaches and neck pain are often interrelated symptoms that are relieved with her treatments.

John Barrette, PT

John Barrette is a graduate of Marquette University with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy. John’s extensive experience includes outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, conditioning fitness in conjunction with strength reconditioning. He has also worked with inpatient geriatrics and hospitals. John has been a physical therapy clinical educator for Marquette University students. He has worked for over 30 years as a physical therapist. John is a certified WorkSTEPS® Employment Tester. His manual therapy and treatment training includes John Barnes Myofascial Release, Eastern Shiatsu technique, Joint Mobilization, Neuroprobe techniques, Kinesiotaping, advanced skills for treatment of vertigo and dizziness. John uses his techniques as a means to relieve pain and reduce dysfunction. His goal is to assist his patients to attain strengthening the core and extremity muscles in order to bring the body back into proper alignment and resume full function where possible.

Amy Flock, PTA

Amy Flock is a graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College. She has over 20 years of experience. Amy has experience in many settings, she began her career in acute care hospitals then moved to outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, and pool therapy. She has experience treating a variety of patients including, children through adults with neurologic conditions, such as Parkinson's, dementia, and Traumatic Brain Injury, in long term acute to outpatient settings; she has also worked with subacute geriatric patients. Her experience and continuing education training include muscle energy techniques for SI dysfunction, strain/ counterstrain soft tissue mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, lymphedema/ edema pump points, and Kinesiotaping.

Amy has a certification in WorkSTEPS Employment Testing Protocols for Technicians, and she is also a Certified Clinical Instructor through the APTA and has mentored numerous PTA students.

Hammer Rehab and Fitness Center is pleased to have great Front Desk Billing and Ancillary Staff/Rehab Aides to support our clients and our therapists. Dawn Stuczynski

Dawn Stuczynski often brings us laughter and a happy spirit when she arrives. Then, she gets down to the business of billing; accurate timely data entry, sending our electronic billing, paper billing and monthly invoices to our clients. Dawn is willing to spend time on the phone and researching files to follow up with insurance claims that need attention. She is our credentialing guru and keeps all of our therapists registered with all of our insurance companies so we can serve as many clients as possible as in-network providers.

Colton Agamaite

Colton Agamaite is a student at Carroll University majoring in exercise science with a minor in psychology. His goal is to achieve a doctorate of physical therapy and become a physical therapist. He was first introduced to Hammer Rehab and Fitness by shadowing our physical therapists, and soon after began working as a rehab aid. When he is not at the front desk greeting you all, he is assisting with patients or conducting the Hammer Boot Camp in the gym.

Halle Johnson

Halle Johnson is a student at Milwaukee Area Technical College and is studying to become a Radiological Technologist. She assists with scheduling patients, answering phone calls, marketing, WorkSTEPS, and keeping the facility sparkling clean. Her goal is to ensure that your experience at Hammer Rehab & Fitness is welcoming and enjoyable!

Anne Benedict

Anne Benedict became a member of the Hammer Fitness program in November of 2018. As a result of that fitness program, she went on to receive therapy for bursitis in her knees and a 20 year old shoulder injury.

Anne brings a background as a financial administrator in a law firm for over 30 years. Other experience includes estate paralegal duties, network administrator and benefits management.

Anne also worked for Franklin High School for seven years. She enjoyed her time there supporting the Athletic Director. Often she could be seen at football games and other athletic events for the School. She enjoyed the student body and was involved in the building update and a football field upgrade to turf.

Anne began working at Hammer Rehab & Fitness in January, 2021. She brings her previous skills in details, client relationships and her desire to make the business continue. She has been learning new patient and medical information daily.
